Most of the Japanese garden won’t need much maintenance, you need to clipping the domes and raking the gravel for sometimes. Keep in mind, if you expect to see greenery and colorful blooms in your garden that mean your taste may not match with this style.
In this article I will design a small and narrow space at the side of a town house with Japanese style garden.

Tips for design
Keep it simple, so don’t cram in so many elements in your small garden that it looks cluttered. Keep in mind that sense of space is very importance for Japanese style garden.
